Sapcote Club
Location: Hinckley Road, Sapcote
Date: 2017 - 2023
When the Clarendon Club was demolished after a devastating fire in 2017, the Northern Soul Hinckley soul nights needed a new venue, and firstly the events were held at the Earl Shilton Constitutional Club, but finally they found their home at Sapcote Working Men's Club.
About four miles from Hinckley, Sapcote is a small village of about 3,250 residents. At the helm at the new venue were Wayne Hayes, Andrew Baskett and Sam Evans.
The Concert Room at Sapcote Club is well-appointed, with a capacity of 200 people. Wayne, Andrew and Sam headed up the DJ rota, with guest appearances from Mick Andrew Reynolds (Moldie), Des Jones, Jools Metcalfe, Danny Clegg, Ray Copley, John Stackhouse, Martin Stanford, Alex Gallagher, Andy Powell, Hitsville Chalky and many others.
In the main, a soul night was held every two to three months from 2017 up until 2023. The final night was held the 21st January, 2023 to coincide with the 20th Anniversary of the Classic Soul Nights. No mean achievement, you must agree.
Here's some pictures taken over the years...
... and a fitting goodbye from Wayne, Sam and Andrew.
