Brian Rae R.I.P.
It is with great sadness that I have recently learnt of the passing of a true gentleman, Brian Rae. A long-time supporter of Hinckley Soul Club, Brian was one of the few true professional northern soul DJs who put the crowd first, always filling the floor. Rest in peace, Brian, it was a pleasure knowing you.

Welcome!

If you are a first time visitor, you are probably wondering who we are, what we are and why! Put simply, this web site attempts to explain all this. As for the author, let's just say it's an excuse to commit many years of pleasure to a web site, and to say thanks to all those people who made soul music, and in particular, northern soul, popular in Hinckley and keep the music alive today.

Times change, people change, but the one constant in Hinckley seems to be the love of soul music. Whether it be northern soul, Tamla Motown, or any other flavour of soul music you can think of, Hinckley is a haven. Go to any disco, party, wedding, or nightclub, it's there. It's in the blood.

This web site is an attempt to record the history of northern soul music in the town, and play due homage to the people who, over the years, have kept the heart of soul beating. Thanks for your interest, and we hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did creating this web site.

Comments Everywhere!
Sorry for the lack of activity lately, but I've been working on another project, and it went on a bit longer than expected! One thing I've noticed is that the website is pretty 'static', in that you can't interact with it much. So... I've been busy adding the facility to comment on local venues, national venues and photos, so you guys can share your memories. Oh, and now you can also see who likes or dislikes your comments!
